Email should not be used as the only form of communication for notifications that require a timely response. Email, by design, does not guarantee immediate delivery. Under normal operation, an email message may take several minutes to several hours to be delivered. For notifications that need immediate or timely response, we recommend the use of alternative communications methods such as SMS or pagers.

Changes for New Sympa Lists in Effect
October 30, 2025
Starting October 30, 2025, you can expect the following changes when you request a new Sympa list:
We are currently focused on ensuring that requests for new mailing lists comply with policy. Subsequently, we will address lists that have been dormant for a long time; lists, including class lists, whose owners are not active faculty members or staff; and lists that are otherwise out of compliance.
After October 30, if you want to modify an existing list, you can:
